OUR TEAM
GARY RAUSENBERGER
President
After spending many years working at some of the industry’s premier scenery shops, Gary founded Cigar Box Studios, Inc. as a specialty shop for props, furniture and one-of-a-kind set elements. His vision was two fold: establish a company that would provide the highest quality product at competitive prices and, at the same time, provide comprehensive service to clients through every phase of the project from concept development to end-of-event storage. Gary’s goal is not to be biggest but to be the best.
While still in school Gary began his career at Feller Scenery Studios, Inc. where his father, Ed, was one of the shop foremen. Later, he moved on to PRG Scenic Technologies where he moved up through the ranks from Shop-man to Layout man to Foreman to Senior Bid Estimator in charge of Project Development. With Cigar Box Studios, Inc. Gary took the knowledge he had acquired over the nearly 40 years of working in scenery shops as well as backstage on Broadway at shows such as "The Act", "Barnum", "Pacific Overtures", "42nd Street", "Nine" and "Eubie!", to name a few.
Gary maps the strategic direction and development for Cigar Box Studios, Inc. and serves as the primary contact for clients while working closely with his shop staff to ensure the finest product quality and service. Additionally, he has developed a respected working relationship with some of the entertainment industry’s finest designers and producers and he has a reputation for working in partnership with the clients to ensure that the designer’s vision as well as the producer’s budget are both satisfied.
Gary is proud of the ongoing working relationship that he has with the other larger shops in the industry, often working in tandem with them on projects. Cigar Box Studios, Inc. has participated in several joint ventures with other companies that have resulted in the creation of highly successful new products.

In his down time, Gary enjoys spending time with his wife Kay and the rest of their ever-growing family and time near the ocean.
